When does your life truly begin?

This is a rant.

It is common knowledge that every society is discriminatory to its women folks; some worse than the others.

Every aspect of women’s lives, biology and identity is dictated by someone else, has been twisted and used against us in different ways, especially in some parts of the world.

In my society, women’s plight is inconceivable. A fertile woman will be scorned because she conceives and gives birth easily, a barren one will be subjected to the same vile for being barren.

A young woman will be denied education and opportunities, and advised to get married, a married women will be denied same for being married.

An adult woman will be told she is old and expired, because ‘who would want her now’?

7 years ago, I was expressly told that my life is over. Because I am a divorced mother of 5.

Today, 7 years down the line, I have never felt more alive, viable and inspired to grow into the best version of me.

I have always known that women have always get the short end of the stick every blessed time, the events in the past 7 years only proved it.

But despite it all, and the ‘ageism’ that continuously gets flaunted in our face (lols), we shall not only overcome, but also #breakthebias.
